Largest Republic of China Flag Unveiled at Taichung National Day Ceremony

OCTOBER 10, 2024 — This morning, Taiwan held a grand National Day flag-raising ceremony at the Taichung City city hall plaza, attracting 20,000 attendees, according to China Daily News. Seventy-two firefighters, hailed as the heroes of the city’s recovery following the recent Typhoon Krathon, carried the nation’s largest flag—24 meters wide and 36 meters long—into the ceremony.

The event began at 8 a.m. with great fanfare, celebrating Taiwan’s National Day in style.

Meanwhile, in Taipei, Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu delivered a speech at the National Day ceremony, underscoring the importance of the Republic of China’s flag, Mirror Media reports. Han remarked, “Even though there are many places where we cannot raise the Republic of China flag, the world must still know that the Republic of China exists.”

Han also pointed out that citizens under 60 in Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu have never experienced war, famine, or severe poverty. He emphasized that the younger generation should understand that it is the Republic of China, symbolized by the flag with the white sun on a blue sky and red field, that has protected these islands.
