OCTOBER 11, 2024 — The National Museum of China in Beijing launched today the long-term exhibition “Flags Unfurled Like a Painting—An Exhibition of the Red Artifacts” to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Sina Corporation reports. The exhibition features over 60 items, including early revolutionary, Communist and party flags, as well as revolutionary art.
Among the notable artifacts on display is the very first national flag raised in Tiananmen Square in 1949, as well as flag proposals submitted before the People’s Republic of China’s establishment. Other highlights include the “plough flag” of early peasant movements and the national flag displayed above the South Pole aboard the Shenzhou VI spacecraft.
According to the Communist Party newsletter China Daily, the exhibition is held at the National Museum of China, located at 16 East Chang’an Avenue, Dongcheng district, Beijing.
