7th-Grader Designs New Flag for Miguel Lanús, Argentina

OCTOBER 17, 2024 — The neighborhood of Miguel Lanús in Misiones, Argentina, has a new flag, reports MisionesOnline.

The new flag is designed through a contest held among 7th-grade students as part of the 120th anniversary celebrations. Students from three neighborhood schools participated in the competition, and the winning design was created by Pricila Gimena Paredes from the school N°84, Nicolás Avellaneda.

In an interview, Paredes explained that her flag incorporates meaningful symbols such as the sun, a book representing the educational institutions in the area, rails signifying the neighborhood’s connection to the railway, and water representing the Paraná River, which borders Misiones.

Second and third place went to Fedrico Ramos and Bladimir Méndez, respectively.

Elsa Raquel Barberán, the teacher overseeing the contest, emphasized the importance of reflecting the neighborhood’s history and spirit in the students’ designs. The winning flag will be officially presented on October 28 at a celebration event in Leopoldo Victor Lanús Square.
