Apopka, Florida Unveils New Flag

OCTOBER 18, 2024 — The city of Apopka, Florida, has unveiled its new flag, WFTV reports.

It is the result of a redesign competition, held in celebration of the town’s 142th anniversary, that ran from August 8 to September 16, 2024, according to the government website. The contest attracted over 150 submissions from local schools, Apopka residents, and even participants from the UK and Texas.

A panel of seven judges, including a local artist, the director of a design school, and three members of the North American Vexillological Association, narrowed the submissions to a top ten. The final design was selected by public vote, which ended on October 4.

The winning flag was created by Faith Lee, an art and music teacher at Apopka Christian Academy.
