Largest Russian Flag Unfolded in Kirov

OCTOBER 19, 2024 — Today, in Kirov, the largest Russian flag was unfolded to commemorate the city’s 650th anniversary, reports newsler.ru.

According to Vyatka-na-Seti and the state-run Russian News Agency, the event took place at Theater Square and was organized by the Kirov branch of the public organization “Young Guard of United Russia.” The massive flag, measuring 50 by 75 meters (approximately 164 by 246 feet), was unfolded with the participation of 650 people, including students, schoolchildren, and representatives of public organizations and enterprises, reported the Vyatsky State University newsletter.

The governor of the Kirov region, Alexander Sokolov, personally joined in the unfolding of the flag. Sokolov remarked, “There is such a term—‘unity around the flag.’ And today’s action is a vivid visualization of it, because we really have all the people united around the state symbols, around the President, and around a common task—our common Victory.”

Today also marks the 967th day of Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
