OCTOBER 25, 2024 — Today, Kazakhstan marked Republic Day with celebrations across the nation, including a prominent flag-raising ceremony at the Medeu ice rink in Almaty, Kazinform reports.
Earlier in the week, the country displayed its largest-ever national flag on the facade of a building, adding to the patriotic atmosphere.
In an interview with Almaty.tv, Elizaveta Darbayeva, director of Art Express Design, highlighted the flag’s significance as a symbol of Kazakhstan’s sovereignty and national identity. Since 2014, Art Express Design has produced the national flag with meticulous attention to detail. “The flag embodies the state’s values, and accuracy in its design is essential,” Darbayeva noted.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also extended his congratulations, stating, “Dear compatriots! I sincerely congratulate you on Republic Day! This magnificent holiday is the embodiment of Kazakhstan’s sovereignty and a symbol of the revival of our centuries-old statehood.”
According to the government’s website, Kazakhstan’s national flag, designed by Shaken Niyazbekov and adopted in 1992, features a light blue background symbolizing honesty, fidelity, and devotion to Kazakh ancestry. The sun on the flag signifies wealth, life, and energy, with rays in the shape of grain for prosperity. A steppe eagle represents power and generosity, while a decorative pattern along the flagstaff reflects Kazakh heritage and artistic traditions.
