Lobería, Argentina Hoists New District Flag “Armonía”

OCTOBER 29, 2024 — Today, the district of Lobería (Lobería Partido), Argentina, celebrated the hoisting of its new district flag, “Armonía” (Harmony), in a ceremony at the Explanada del Palacio Municipal, 2261 reports.

Created by local students Sara Lauga Eder, Juanita Negretti, and Angelina Díaz Lance from Colegio Justa Silvia Mayora, the flag’s design features six symbolic elements that represent the district’s identity. According to 0223, the centerpiece is a scarlet flycatcher, known locally as the churrinche, and beneath it are the sun, mountains, agriculture, and the sea waves—all encircled by a ring representing the curro, a traditional horse enclosure.

The unveiling ceremony was led by Mayor Pablo Barrena, who explained the significance of launching the flag on October 29: On October 29, 1839, the district of La Lobería Grande, a predecessor of the modern day district of Lobería, was formed.

Addressing the crowd, Barrena reflected on the flag’s name: “We need harmony—more harmony among Argentinians, more harmony in Lobería.”

The selection process began in April with a district-wide contest open to student designers. On September 28, 3,994 community members cast votes, with “Armonía” receiving 1,273 votes to secure its place as the district’s official flag, according to Agencia DIB.
