Villa María, Argentina Launches New Flag Design Contest for 157th Anniversary

NOVEMBER 2, 2024 — Today, the municipality of Villa María, Argentina, has introduced a public contest to design a new city flag as part of the city’s 157th-anniversary celebrations, according to the municipality website.

The proposed new flag should aim to reflect Villa María’s historical, cultural, traditional, artistic, educational, and community values. The initiative also underscores the concept of municipal autonomy and invites the public to participate actively in crafting a visual symbol that represents their city.

Two entry options are available: individual entries for residents over 16 years old, and group submissions of up to five people.

Design requirements stipulate a rectangular aspect ratio, matching the proportions of the National Flag and the Córdoba Provincial Flag. If divided, the flag may have up to three parts, arranged vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. Designs must also incorporate historical, architectural, cultural, or natural elements of Villa María. Center figures are allowed but must remain clear, distinguishable, and simple.

The municipality will accept design submissions until December 13.
