NOVEMBER 3, 2024 — In celebration of UAE Flag Day, President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan raised the national flag at Qasr Al Hosn in Abu Dhabi, the Emirati Times reported.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, commemorated Flag Day by raising the national flag at the Qasr Al Hosn in Abu Dhabi.
“With their determination and ambition, the next generation will continue to drive the UAE’s progress and keep our flag flying high,” the President stated on social media platform X.
Concurrently, Brand Dubai unveiled the 11th edition of its annual Flag Garden at Jumeirah Beach, showcasing a vast display honoring the nation’s founders, according to the Gulf Times. It is the largest Flag Garden display to date, spanning 75 by 104 meters at Jumeirah Beach.
This year’s Flag Garden showcases 11,600 UAE flags arranged to form aerial portraits of the nation’s founding leaders, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
According to Shaima Al Suwaidi, Director of Brand Dubai, the garden’s symbolic design reflects the profound loyalty Emiratis feel for their leadership, which has elevated the UAE on the global stage. “Flag Garden also symbolizes the unity of the Emirati people and stands as an expression of national pride during key celebrations,” Al Suwaidi noted.
Flag day, first introduced in 2013, coincides with the anniversary of Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s presidency in 2004.
The UAE’s flag, designed in 1971 by Abdullah Al Maainah, incorporates four colors representing values: white for generosity, green for growth, black for resilience, and red for sacrifice. Selected from over 1,000 submissions, the design went on to symbolize the new federation and is now a prominent emblem of national identity and pride.
