Organization of Turkic States Adopts New Flag

NOVEMBER 6, 2024 — At its 11th Summit in Bishkek, the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) unveiled their new flag, replacing an earlier design from 2012, according to Report.az.

The heads of state from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan approved the OTS’s new flag, which incorporates symbolic elements representing centuries of Turkic identity and statehood, Azerbaycan 24 reports.

The design features a turquoise blue field (Pantone 3125C) that signifies the clear sky, peace, and prosperity. The single color indicates unity of the Turkic states.

At the flag’s center is a Rub el Hizb, symbolizing the ancient traditions of guidance and wisdom in Turkic and Islamic heritage. A sun with forty straight rays represents light, vitality, and openness, symbolizing the collective vision and values shared by OTS nations. Completing the design, a crescent and star embody aspirations for unity, growth, and progress across the Turkic world.

The new flag replaces an earlier version that merged symbols from OTS member countries. This previous design featured the sun from Kyrgyzstan’s flag, the blue color from Kazakhstan’s flag, Azerbaijan’s star, and Türkiye’s crescent.
