Parisians Invited to Vote on Final Design for Île Saint-Louis Flag

NOVEMBER 7, 2024 — The Parisian island of Île Saint-Louis is set to select a new flag, with two final designs vying for the honor, according to an announcement on Facebook.

Komorebi, a fashion shop on the island, initiated the contest as part of a project celebrating Île Saint-Louis’s distinct cultural identity.

Six designs reflecting aspects of the island’s heritage were initially put forward, and 626 votes have narrowed the selection to two finalists, each with symbolic elements tied to Paris and Île Saint-Louis, according to Komorebi’s post on Instagram.

The first design, a nod to Paris’s colors, features a blue and red background with a white diamond at the center, symbolizing freedom and marking the island’s central place in Paris. This design incorporates a boat emblem drawn from Paris’s coat of arms.

The second finalist uses a unique “Bleu Saint-Louis” background and depicts a boat steered by a six-pointed star, meant to inspire a sense of exoticism.

Members of the public are invited to cast their votes in person at Komorebi’s shop, located at 43 rue Saint-Louis-en-l’Île, with the winning design set to be unveiled on November 30.
