NOVEMBER 21, 2024 — Malbrán, a town in Argentina, has unveiled its first official flag, chosen through a community-wide contest, Sur Santiagueño reports.
The winning design was created by “Pinceladas del Alma,” a group comprising Sheilla Ganem, Georgina Anrriquez, Luis Ponce, Jorge Ponce, and Marina Ledesma.
The flag was revealed in a ceremony where Municipal Commissioner Julio “Leo” Domínguez expressed enthusiasm for the milestone, emphasizing the significance of the flag as a unifying emblem for the community.
He praised the creativity and commitment of the participants, particularly the younger generation, and hoped their example would inspire continued pride and dedication to Malbrán’s future.
The flag’s design integrates multiple elements that reflect the town’s character and history.
A central sun symbolizes hope and unity, while representations of cattle and wheat honor the agricultural and rural contributions that have defined the region. A windmill and a train station evoke memories of the town’s past and the connections that have shaped its identity. A bandoneon pays homage to local culture and the musical legacy of artist Tony Kairuz.
Diagonal stripes running through the design symbolize the community’s journey, perseverance, and spirit of self-improvement.
