Parisian Island Île Saint-Louis Selects New Flag

DECEMBER 7, 2024 — The Parisian island of Île Saint-Louis has chosen its new unofficial flag following a public voting process, according to a press release.

The winning design, dubbed the “Heart of Paris,” garnered the majority of votes in the second round of voting, which concluded on November 28, with 1,100 cumulative votes cast.

The contest, initiated by Komorebi, a fashion shop on the island, aimed to celebrate and reflect Île Saint-Louis’s distinct cultural identity.

Komorebi has made the flag available for purchase by merchants and residents who wish to display the island’s colors.

The design pays homage to Paris through a blue and red background with a central white diamond, symbolizing freedom and the island’s importance within the city. It also features a boat emblem drawn from the traditional Parisian coat of arms.
