DECEMBER 16, 2024 — The 7th National Flag Day is being celebrated in Nepal today, Setopati reports, commemorating the recognition of the national flag by the United Nations in 1962.
A procession featuring the national flag of Nepal was held at Basantapur Durbar Square in Kathmandu to mark the occasion.
Rajananda Mandavya, the founder of National Flag Day, addressed the attendees, highlighting that the date corresponds to Paush 1 in the Nepali calendar. He noted that on December 16, 1962 (Paush 1, 2019 in the Nepali calendar), the United Nations formally recognized the distinctive flag of Nepal.
