Georgia Celebrates State Flag Day

JANUARY 14, 2025 — Georgia marked its State Flag Day today, reports Agenda.ge.

President Mikheil Kavelashvili and Parliamentary Speaker Shalva Papuashvili both extended their congratulations to citizens, underscoring the national importance of the five-cross flag.

President Kavelashvili took to social media to express his gratitude, stating, “I congratulate every citizen of our country on Georgia’s State Flag Day! Georgia’s five-cross national flag is the main symbol of our freedom, independence, unity, and strength.”

“Our country’s five-cross flag is not only a manifestation of statehood but also a visible embodiment of national consciousness, pride, responsibility, and our struggle for freedom,” the President added, according to 1TV.ge.

Speaker Papuashvili also expressed his thoughts on the day, emphasizing the unity of the nation. “We should remember that we have one national flag, one emblem, one anthem, and one motherland,” he said in a post on Facebook.

The five-cross flag was officially adopted in January 2004, which has been celebrated on State Flag Day since 2012.
