MARCH 23, 2025 — Belle-Baie will soon unveil its official municipal flag this summer, says L’Acadie Nouvelle.
The flag’s creation marks a significant milestone for the New Brunswick town, which has been refining the project in recent months.
“I think people will be proud of their flag, which represents the diversity of our region. It reflects Belle-Baie and its culture, with themes like Acadie, water, the forest, and a tribute to Indigenous peoples,” the town’s mayor, Daniel Guitard, said.
According to information obtained by L’Acadie Nouvelle, the design for the flag may resemble one that has flown in Belle-Baie’s former village of Nigadoo since 2021 (pictured). The final version has already been presented to municipal officials and will soon be introduced to the public.
Despite the progress, some council members expressed concerns about the design process. They argued that the flag should have undergone a more extensive creative exercise to better distinguish it from Nigadoo’s earlier symbol.
Mayor Guitard revealed that the flag, along with Belle-Baie’s official theme song, will be publicly unveiled by the start of the summer season. Local artist Danny Boudreau, known for his role in creating the theme song for Quebec City’s 400th anniversary celebrations, is working on the song, which aims to capture Belle-Baie’s unique character.
As Belle-Baie prepares to present its new symbols, the town also continues to strengthen ties with the French town of Courseulles-sur-Mer, as part of an ongoing twinning project focused on cultural and economic exchanges.
