MAY 15, 2025 — Formosa, the capital city of Argentina’s Formosa Province, has officially adopted its first city flag following a citizen-led design contest that drew more than 120 submissions, says El Comercial.
The winning design, selected through public voting, will be formally unveiled on May 25 during national celebrations.
The initiative, titled Mi Ciudad es Bandera, was launched in early April by the Municipality of Formosa to encourage residents to create a visual emblem that reflects the city’s identity, history, and values.
The project featured guidance from vexillologist Cristian Baquero Lazcano, known for his role in designing Córdoba’s city flag.
Municipal officials described the contest as an unprecedented moment of civic participation. “The objective was to foster a sense of belonging and promote local identity through collective creation,” organizers stated.
“Each design received is a show of love for our city.”
