MAY 26, 2025 — Residents of Piriápolis, Uruguay, are being invited to take part in a design competition that will result in the municipal’s official flag, reports Semanario La Prensa.
The initiative calls on residents aged 18 and older to submit original flag designs that reflect the identity and spirit of Piriápolis, according to a government press release.
Submissions will be accepted until June 13.
There is total freedom in terms of colors, shapes, and other creative aspects, organizers stated.
The winning design will be awarded 10,000 Uruguayan pesos (USD$240) in cash and adopted as the official municipal flag, to be raised at every city event.
A panel composed of visual arts educators, representatives from the local Tourism and Promotion Association, and officials from the Piriápolis municipality will evaluate the entries.
All submissions, regardless of outcome, will be exhibited at the Casa de la Cultura.
