Argentina’s Humberto Primo Launches Flag Design Contest

MAY 27, 2025 — The town of Humberto Primo in Argentina has launched a public contest to create its first official flag, according to the town government website.

The initiative, titled Una Bandera para mi Pueblo (“A Flag for My Town”), is organized by the local government and encourages participation from residents born or currently living in Humberto Primo.

The winning design will be formalized by municipal ordinance and used in official ceremonies, public buildings, and community events.

A preliminary workshop was held on May 21 at the Comunal Hall to provide guidance on flag design principles, says the Rafaela Noticias. Led by Olga Cagliero, an expert in ceremonial protocol and organizational image, the session covered topics such as community values, visual identity, and symbolism.

“The turnout was very good, with around 30 people attending,” said Mauro Gilabert, president of the commune. “We hope many more join. This is a cultural initiative to build a shared identity.”

Gilabert emphasized the need for an official emblem, noting that other municipalities in Santa Fe Province already have flags.

“We’ve often used our coat of arms or the ‘H1’ symbol, but we lacked an official insignia. This was a pending task since the department flag was created. Now we can finally move forward,” he stated.

A multidisciplinary jury comprising experts in design, education, culture, and local officials will select the winning entry. The top prize includes ARS 500,000 (USD$432), an official copy of the flag, and a diploma of honor. Certificates will be issued to all participants.

Entries will be accepted during the first two weeks of July.
