Argentina’s Vista Alegre Adopts Official Flag

JUNE 6, 2025 — Vista Alegre in Neuquén, Argentina has officially adopted a flag, reports Río Negro.

The flag, selected through a local design competition, will be formally unveiled during the upcoming Día de la Bandera celebrations.

The winning design was created by Gloria Novoa, whose proposal stood out among four entries in the “Bandera para mi Pueblo” competition organized by the Vista Alegre municipal government and the city council. Novoa described her design as one that reflects the town’s natural and cultural identity.

“It’s a symbol that invites reflection, nurtures a sense of belonging, and celebrates the unique identity of this community,” she stated.

The flag incorporates elements that highlight key aspects of Vista Alegre’s geography and economy. The blue section represents the waters of the Ballester Dam, a vital source for both agriculture and recreation. It also features the fertile valley farms that have supported generations of local families, and a trio of apples, pears, and cherries, emblematic fruits of the region, underscoring the area’s agricultural abundance and identity.

“We have our anthem, we have our coat of arms, and now we have our flag,” said Sandra Hernández, president of the city council.
