Argentina’s Las Moscas Unveils Its Official Flag

JUNE 18, 2025 — The town of Las Moscas, located in Argentina’s Uruguay Department, has officially adopted its own flag, says Mercurio Noticias.

The unveiling took place during the inauguration of the newly established “Malvinas Argentinas” square last Friday. The adoption of the flag followed a months-long process initiated by local councillor Alberto Frene, a native of San Salvador who has since made Las Moscas his home.

Frene’s proposal led to a public competition aimed at creating a unique emblem for the community.

Six designs were submitted as part of the contest. After a detailed review, the selection jury unanimously chose a design by Romina Heinse Pérez, a young resident of Las Moscas. Her proposal was praised for its representation of local identity and symbolism meaningful to the town.

Following the selection, the communal council passed Ordinance No. 70/2025, formally approving the flag and commissioning its digital design and physical production.

The new flag was publicly presented in a ceremony attended by Frene, the head of the local government, and the flag’s designer.
