Kenilworth, NJ, Unveils New Borough Flag

JUNE 25, 2025 — Kenilworth, New Jersey, has officially adopted a new municipal flag, according to an announcement on Facebook, the result of a months-long community-driven effort to create a lasting symbol of the borough’s identity and pride.

The flag was unveiled and unanimously approved by the mayor and council at the June 17 council meeting. The winning design, submitted by a resident who requested anonymity, was selected from a range of creative entries submitted by members of the Kenilworth community.

The initiative began earlier this year with the launch of the “Borough of Kenilworth Municipal Flag Initiative,” says NJ.com, inviting residents and local organizations to take part in crafting a visual representation of the town’s spirit and heritage. Announced on April 24, the project encouraged participants to submit their designs by June 2, with the goal of revealing the final flag in time for Flag Day on June 14.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to help shape a flag that will represent Kenilworth for generations to come,” the borough said at the time.

Although the final design was chosen before Flag Day, its formal adoption came days later.
