JULY 12, 2025 — The Town of Brooks in Georgia, United States has commenced online voting for its new municipal flag, according to a government press release.
The town is presenting residents with 38 designs to represent the town’s heritage and future.
Voting is open to all residents within the local zip code. Participants can select up to three flag designs by the deadline of Friday, July 18.
The options range from traditional tricolour flags to modern graphic representations. Many flags incorporate symbols that are central to the town’s story.
Some designs feature cotton bolls, a nod to the crop that historically shaped the town’s economy. Other agricultural symbols include barns, tractors and farm animals.
Several flags commemorate important dates, such as the arrival of early settlers in 1819, the first land lottery in 1823, and the town’s incorporation in 1910. The railroad, historic local buildings, and Chief William McIntosh of the Creek Nation are also prominent historical motifs.
The state flower, the Cherokee Rose, and the town’s zip code, 30205, appear in multiple designs to ground the flags in local and state identity.
