Saline County Launches Flag Design Contest for Local Students

JULY 30, 2025 — Saline County, Arkansas, has announced a new flag design contest open to local students entering 10th through 12th grades for the 2025-26 school year, according to MySaline.

The initiative, which aims to foster community pride and creativity, invites participants to submit an original flag design that symbolizes the county’s heritage and values.

The contest opens on Monday, August 18, 2025 and closes Friday, September 26, 2025.

Contest guidelines encourage designs that are simple, symbolic, and meaningful, drawing inspiration from elements such as the Saline County Courthouse, the Old River Bridge, or the county’s outline and colours.

Lettering, seals, and complex images should be avoided, and participants are encouraged to explain the symbolism behind their artwork.

Once submissions close, a committee composed of community members and design advisors will review all entries from September 29 to October 3, selecting several finalists. The chosen designs will then be presented to the Saline County Public Works Committee and, ultimately, the Saline County Quorum Court for the final selection.

The winning student(s) will receive public recognition and have their flag featured on county platforms. The selected artwork will be digitized for production, with all rights transferred to the county as a condition of entry.
