AUGUST 22, 2025 — Villa Giardino, a town in the Punilla Valley of Córdoba Province, Argentina, has adopted its first official municipal flag, says the Córdoba Interior Informa.
The winning design was created by Camila Rocío Aquino. Her proposal was chosen after two rounds of voting. Seventy-three designs were submitted overall, with 25 advancing to the finals. Aquino’s flag garnered the most support, earning 22 points from the jury to become the town’s official symbol.
The flag is composed of three vertical bands of equal size, bordered at the edges by wavy lines that represent the nearby Sierras de Córdoba mountains. At its centre is the cosmos flower, a cultural symbol of Villa Giardino’s colourful spring season. The chosen colours carry distinct meanings: green stands for hope, prosperity, and nature; white for peace, unity, and harmony; burgundy for elegance, originality, and deep love; while the pink hue of the cosmos flower conveys tranquility, balance, and simple beauty. The wavy borders are meant to represent life, continuity, and the passage of time.
The jury that selected the design was made up of municipal authorities, council members, community leaders, and cultural representatives, with Mayor Jorge Soria presiding.
The process also included the participation of Cristian Baquero Lazcano, a nationally recognized vexillologist who has created numerous official emblems across Argentina and is considered one of Latin America’s leading experts in the field.
The new flag will be formally presented in September with a public ceremony and the first official raising of the emblem.
