AUGUST 24, 2025 — The City of Hillsboro in Oregon is calling on its residents to participate in the creation of its first official community flag as the city approaches its 150th anniversary, according to a press release by the City.
Residents have just seven days, from now until September 1st, to share their ideas about the flag’s symbols, colours, and meaning through an online survey on the city’s engagement website.
Residents can contribute their ideas by answering questions about Hillsboro’s stories, values, and the visual elements they believe best represent the city.
The flag designs, informed by this public feedback, will be developed by participants of the Civic Leadership Academy and presented to the City Council, which will decide on the next steps for community feedback at its October 21 meeting, according to the Hillsboro Herald.
