Brooks, Georgia, Gets New Municipal Flag

AUGUST 27, 2025 — In Georgia, a new flag will soon be flying high over the Town of Brooks after resident Ella Robinson won the community’s official municipal flag design competition, according to the Fayette County News.

Her design received 87 of the 240 votes cast, making it the clear choice among the 38 entries considered.

“It is a beautiful flag, and I cannot wait to see it in cloth,” said Mayor Dan Langford, noting that the design captures both history and civic pride.

According to the initial submission document, Robinson’s flag places Chief McIntosh at its centre, honouring the Creek Indians who first settled the area before white settlers arrived. The image is a nod to perseverance and the spirit of brotherhood that characterizes the Brooks community.

“Our area was initially settled by Creek Indians before white settlers arrived. This image pays homage to them,” Robinson’s description explains.

Chief McIntosh’s silhouette is set inside the outline of the state of Georgia. Alongside, Robinson’s design incorporates elements of the American flag, representing the community’s pride in being part of the United States. It also references Brooks’ settlement year, 1819.

The flags will be unveiled during the Brooks Heritage Celebration on October 25, marking the town’s 115th anniversary.
