OCTOBER 11, 2025 — Sheridan County, Wyoming, is celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary with the Sheridan County Community Flag Contest, says the Sheridan Press.
The initiative is part of the nationwide observance marking 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
The contest encourages residents of all ages to submit original flag designs representing any of the county’s 14 communities. Organizers hope that each flag will embody the distinct story of its place while also looking forward to the area’s future.
Entries can be uploaded digitally or delivered in person, and submissions will remain open until December 1, 2025.
Flag designs must follow a 3:5 ratio. Keeping in line with flag design principles, participants are encouraged to use no more than six solid colours without gradients or text, aiming for simplicity and bold symbolism that can resonate from afar.
Organizers note that the resulting flags will represent each of Sheridan County’s four municipalities.
