OCTOBER 20, 2025 — On Saturday, October 18, the Spanish county of La Segarra marked the fifth edition of its annual Dia de la Comarca with the unveiling of its first flag, says Segre.
The event, organized by the Consell Comarcal, featured a full day of cultural and recreational activities across the region.
The celebration opened with the inauguration of the restored second floor of the Consell’s headquarters and the raising of the new flag, which bears an ear of wheat with 19 grains representing each municipality in La Segarra.
“For the first time in La Segarra, we have our own flag, a symbol of identity that boosts our self-esteem,” said Imma Secanell, president of the Consell d’Alcaldes.
President Ramon Augé emphasized that the creation of the flag aims to “reinforce the sense of identity and belonging” among residents.
The Consell Comarcal formally approved the new flag and established a Special Commission for the Dia de la Comarca in July, which includes representatives from all governing political parties.
