OCTOBER 22, 2025 — New Tazewell, Tennessee, has selected its first official town flag following a community-wide design contest, says the Claiborne Progress.
Local resident Amanda Arends was announced as the winner, and her design will soon be displayed throughout the town.
The contest, launched in early September, invited any New Tazewell resident, student, or worker to design a unique town flag. A $1,000 prize was offered to the winner, provided by the town’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen.
“The New Tazewell City Hall has a U.S. flag and a Tennessee flag flying outside the building, however the town has never adopted a New Tazewell town flag,” the town’s initial contest announcement read. “We are asking you, the citizens of New Tazewell, the school children, high school students or college students of New Tazewell, to help us design a New Tazewell town flag.”
