Philadelphia Waterfront Launches 2026 Flag Exhibition Call

OCTOBER 25, 2025 — In Pennsylvania, the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation (DRWC) has officially opened its call for proposals for the 2026 Flag Exhibition at Spruce Street Harbor Park, Philadelphia, according to a press release by the Corporation.

Marking the third consecutive year of this vibrant public art display, sixteen selected artists will have their large pennant flags professionally produced and exhibited over the spring and summer seasons.

Each participating artist will receive a $300 honorarium, with all production expenses covered by the DRWC Waterfront Arts Program.

This year’s thematic prompt, “Roots of Resilience,” asks artists to reflect on Philadelphia’s legacy as a pivotal immigration hub in the United States.

“This theme encourages artists to investigate the diverse narratives, cultures, and contributions of immigrant communities that have shaped the city’s identity over the years,” the DRWC emphasized.

“We aim to celebrate the tapestry of cultures that continue to enrich Philadelphia and inspire future generations,” the organization explained.

Established in 2009 as a nonprofit benefiting the city and its people, DRWC leads efforts to revitalize the waterfront through engaging public art and amenities.

Proposals for the 2026 Flag Exhibition must be submitted by November 15 through an online form. Artists whose proposals are accepted will be notified in December and are expected to finalize their designs by February 2026. The exhibition will run from May through September 2026. The selection process is handled by DRWC parks and leadership staff, who evaluate entries for creativity, clarity of vision, and relevance to public engagement.
