NOVEMBER 8, 2025 — The North American Vexillological Association has announced the opening of its design contest for the flag of NAVA 60, to be held in Indianapolis in October 2026.
The competition, chaired by Michael Green of the NAVA 60 Flag Design Committee, seeks artwork that captures the spirit of the milestone gathering and adheres to a specific swallowtail format, a traditional requirement for every decadal meeting flag.
Artists are permitted to submit up to three designs, each accompanied by a brief explanation of no more than two sentences. Entries deemed offensive, irrelevant, plagiarized, or generated by artificial intelligence will be disqualified. All works must be received by November 30, 2025.
Vexillologists and design enthusiasts alike are encouraged to review the flags from previous annual meetings for inspiration before submitting.
The 60th annual meeting will mark NAVA’s return to Indianapolis for the first time since 2004. In addition to the flag competition, NAVA has also issued a call for scholarly papers, inviting members to present original research at the conference.
