Argentina: Deán Funes Unveils Its First Flag

NOVEMBER 13, 2025 — In a ceremonial event at Plaza Sarmiento, the city of Deán Funes of Argentina officially introduced its inaugural flag, marking a historic milestone after 150 years, reports the Córdoba Interior Informa.

The presentation, tied to the launch of the 2026 Festival Season, featured a formal decree and a plaque handover to Marcelo Juncos, the contest winner, by Mayor Andrea Nievas.

The flag’s design emerged from a broad, open competition in which more than 60 residents submitted proposals.

The symbolism was explained in a Facebook post by Portal Dean Funes: the light blue stands for national belonging, history, and a sense of calm and unity; red, drawn from Córdoba’s flag, conveys vigour, vitality, and the industrious spirit of the region; and grey nods to the railway, a pivotal driver of the city’s growth, signalling connection, progress, and collective memory.

At the flag’s centre sits a wind motif, a natural element representing movement, freedom and the bond that unites the community.
