Uzbekistan and Livonians Mark Flag Day

NOVEMBER 18, 2025 — Across Tashkent, the Uzbek capital, ceremonies marked the 34th anniversary of the adoption of the national flag today, reports Zamin.

A ceremonial relay wound its way through the districts of Bektemir, Mirzo Ulugbek, and Chilonzor, with prominent athletes and youth participants carrying the national colours.

Later in the afternoon, the city saw a military parade, a gala concert and a drone show, according to Daryo and UZ Daily. Hundreds of drones outlined national emblems in the evening sky above Friendship of Peoples Square.

In Latvia, the day is remembered not only as Independence but also as Livonian Flag Day, writes the Latvian Public Media. The Livonian flag was first raised in Mazirbe Manor five years after Latvia gained statehood, and the ritual endures as a point of unity for the Livonian people.

Today, the Livonian community numbers around 300, with fewer speakers of the language.
