DECEMBER 13, 2025 — The inaugural flag for the United States Army Western Hemisphere Command, the Army’s newly established operational headquarters, was formally presented at an activation ceremony on December 5 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, says the Defense Logistics Agency in a press release.
This unique organizational colour was manufactured on an accelerated two-week schedule by two embroiderers at the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Troop Support facility in Philadelphia.
The flag’s design and production process was a collaborative effort involving several official bodies, including DLA Troop Support, representatives from the former U.S. Army Forces Command who helped develop the concept, The Institute of Heraldry, and the Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command’s Clothing and Heraldry directorate.
The design is centred on a navy-blue field, featuring the command’s insignia device above a white, fringed scroll that displays the designation, “WESTERN HEMISPHERE COMMAND”.
The insignia itself consists of an eagle’s head placed over a rendition of the terrestrial globe, specifically illustrating the North and South American continents, which is intended to denote the command’s stated geographical area of responsibility, according to a government fact sheet. Further components of the insignia include four stars, signifying the rank distinction of the command’s leadership, with the colour scheme of red, white, and blue used to represent the national colours.
The flag’s construction was carried out by members of the DLA’s specialized Flag Room team. Cindy Chong, an embroidery digitizer machine operator, and Nancy Chhim, a sewing machine operator, were tasked with its creation.
“It’s nice to be a part of something brand new like this, being a tiny part of this reorganization effort for the Army,” Chong said. “Design-wise, there’s something appealing about the simplicity of the eagle head on the globe, which is emphasizing the Army joining together for this one command.”
