Arkansas: Sheridan Adopts First-Ever Official Flag

JANUARY 10, 2026 — The City of Sheridan, Arkansas, is preparing to hoist its first officially adopted flag after the design received approval from the City Council, reports Deltaplex News.

The city, which previously lacked a civic banner throughout its history, adopted the design via a resolution passed during the City Council meeting on Tuesday night, January 6.

Mayor Cain Nattin, speaking to local news outlet Deltaplex News, reflected on the historical significance of the decision.

“Of all of Sheridan’s history, we have never had an official flag for the City of Sheridan,” Mayor Nattin stated. “We were able to adopt a flag through the city, and this will be really cool.”

The process began when communications director Alden Lucas presented the mayor with several design concepts. Mayor Nattin subsequently reviewed the city’s historical records. “I went in and checked our minute book and I could never find a flag,” the mayor explained. He then consulted with the longest-serving member of the council, who confirmed the absence of a previous official flag.

With the flag now formally adopted, Mayor Nattin anticipates the new banner will be produced and raised in the coming weeks. “We now have an official flag for the city of Sheridan, hopefully, we’ll start getting some flags made and have one up hopefully within the next few weeks at the city hall.”
