JANUARY 31, 2026 — The Village of Scarsdale, New York, has initiated a public competition to design a commemorative flag marking the 250th anniversary of the United States and the 325th anniversary of the village’s founding, according to Scarsdale10583.
Open to residents of both Scarsdale and the Mamaroneck Strip, the contest seeks a single original design that synthesizes local identity with national history.
According to municipal officials, the winning entry will be produced as a physical 3’ x 5’ flag to be displayed at Village Hall and various municipal properties throughout the 2026 calendar year.
Participants are permitted to use the existing Village of Scarsdale logo, though the village stipulates that “designs will be modified by a professional graphic designer to ensure clarity and enhance visual appeal.”
The village has prohibited the use of artificial intelligence or copyrighted material, requiring all entries to be entirely original works. Submissions are also subject to content restrictions, as the village explicitly forbids any imagery or language deemed “offensive, divisive, or unsuitable for public display.”
The selection of the winning design will be determined by a panel of judges, with a public unveiling scheduled to take place during the village’s Memorial Day ceremony and parade.
The deadline for digital submissions is March 20.
