U.S. Space Forces Northern Guidon Unveiled

FEBRUARY 11, 2026 — The unfurling of a new ceremonial guidon at Peterson Space Force Base on 30 January marked the formal activation of U.S. Space Forces Northern, reports the Military Times, the seventh field component of the United States’ youngest military branch.

This heraldic tradition served as the centrepiece of a ceremony in Colorado where the unit’s command senior enlisted leader, Chief Master Sgt. Seth Hogan, presented the flag to signify the establishment of a dedicated space presence for continental defence.

The guidon’s design features a bald eagle positioned atop a blue arch with two white rays and wings directed toward a white star.

Operating under the administrative control of U.S. Northern Command, the new unit is responsible for coordinating satellite communications, missile detection, and surveillance data for the stated purpose of continental security.
