FEBRUARY 28, 2026 — The Spanish municipality of Moaña may soon adopt its first official flag if a recent proposal by the local Socialist Party (PSOE) gains traction, reports Faro de Vigo.
Party spokesperson Mario Rodríguez has formalized a motion requesting that the municipal government initiate a public competition to establish a unique banner for the community. Rodríguez argues that the current lack of an official flag deprives Moaña of a distinct visual identity during institutional ceremonies, protocol events, and inter-governmental relations.
According to the motion, an official emblem is necessary to foster collective identification among citizens within a globalized context.
The proposal outlines a structured process for selecting a design, emphasizing that the competition should be launched within three months of the motion’s approval.
Rodríguez stipulates that the selection process must incorporate both technical expertise and public participation to ensure the final product accurately reflects Moaña’s historical, cultural, and territorial values.
