Spain: Castell de Castells Adopts New Official Flag

APRIL 6, 2026 — The municipal government of Castell de Castells, located in the Spanish province of Alicante, has officially introduced a new flag to represent the community, reports El Periódico.

The adoption follows a unanimous resolution passed by the local town council on July 28 last year, which sought to establish a formal visual identity for the municipality.

The design received a favourable technical assessment from the Council of Heraldry and Vexillology on November 28, confirming that the proposal adheres to established regional standards for municipal symbols.

Following the formal endorsement by the Vice-Presidency and Ministry of the Presidency, the flag is defined by a vertical bicolour design with a 2:3 aspect ratio.

The hoist side features a white or pearl-grey field charged with a red Cross of Calatrava, which is flanked by two black shackles. The fly side consists of a black field displaying a yellow castle with black masonry and red windows.
