APRIL 12, 2026 — The community of Crofton, Maryland, has officially introduced a new flag, according to a Facebook post by the community.
The ensign made its public debut on March 28 during the local Cherry Blossom Festival, following a competitive design process initiated by the Crofton Civic Association (CCA) in late 2025.
The design features a red cardinal, the state bird of Maryland, flying above cherry blossoms. These elements are set against a background that incorporates a low-saturation rendition of the Maryland state flag, with the text “CROFTON” and “EST. 1964” included on the field.
The selection followed a public contest that closed on December 1, 2025, which offered a $300 prize for the winning original artwork.
