Argentine Designer Proposes International Anti-Bullying Flag

MAY 1, 2026 — In observance of International Day Against School Bullying on May 2, as designated by the Organización Mundial Bullying Sin Fronteras, Argentine vexillologist Cristian Baquero Lazcano has introduced a proposal for a global flag to symbolize the movement against peer harassment, reports La Brújula 24.

Baquero Lazcano, who serves as the Director of Institutional Communication for the Argentine Association of Ceremonial and Protocol, advocates for the adoption of the symbol as a tool for social transformation.

The design consists of a solid orange field, a colour chosen for its psychological associations with sociability and dialogue. According to the proposal, orange functions as a cautionary tone that “warns without being aggressive” and “signals without breaking the bond.”

Central to the flag is an incomplete white circle, intended to represent a community that has lost its continuity or a social bond that has failed to hold. This broken geometry serves as a metaphor for the systemic fractures caused by bullying and cyberbullying within educational environments.

While the project is currently a private initiative disseminated by the organization, its organizers suggest that educational institutions display the flag or incorporate orange insignia during the first week of May to prompt international reflection on student safety.
