Lithuania: Glitiškės and Klausučiai Adopt New Official Flags and Heraldry

MAY 11, 2026 — The Lithuanian Heraldry Commission has unveiled via Facebook the newly designed coats of arms, flags, and seals for the localities of Glitiškės and Klausučiai.

Designed by artist Rolandas Rimkūnas, the symbols for Glitiškės feature a crimson field charged with an argent oak tree. This central figure references a 1,500-year-old oak situated near the local manor house, an established botanical monument.

The design includes two crossed argent swords with Or hilts superimposed on the trunk, which the Commission states represent the “struggle for freedom” and the historical gathering of insurgents during the 1831–1832 uprising against Tsarist rule.

Simultaneously, the village of Klausučiai has adopted a distinct vexillological identity centred on its status as a hub for apple cultivation. Its new flag and arms utilize a per pale shield divided into red and silver fields.

The design features a bifurcated apple tree trunk; the dexter red side displays argent blossoms to signify spring and vitality, while the sinister argent side bears red fruit, intended to represent maturity and harvest.

The use of argent in the background serves as a heraldic reference to the various ponds surrounding the settlement.
