JUNE 8, 2026 — The regional government of Extremadura has finalized the administrative registration of a new official municipal flag for the city of Coria, Spain, reports COPE, concluding a process that began in September 2025.
According to a resolution published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura, the regional authority inscribed the emblem into the official registry of local symbols following a unanimous vote by Coria’s municipal council.
The adoption concludes a standard administrative procedure that included a public review period initiated in late 2025 to allow for citizen objections, followed by a favourable report from the Directorate General of Local Administration in February 2026.
The newly sanctioned flag consists of a crimson rectangular fabric with a 3:2 proportion, featuring a yellow crowned lion rampant in the centre and four yellow castles positioned in the corners.
Local government officials stated during the initial design presentation that the heraldic elements are derived from Coria’s official coat of arms and are intended to reflect the municipality’s historical ties to the ancient kingdoms of León and Castile.
