JUNE 21, 2026 — The city council of Bedford, Indiana, has officially established the municipality’s new city flag, according to Mayor Samuel J. Craig.
Local lawmakers approved Resolution 5-2026 during a council meeting on June 16, formalizing a design centred entirely on existing municipal branding.
The newly adopted flag features the standard Bedford city seal, a decision municipal officials attribute to a desire for branding continuity, says Director of Business and Community Development Sarah Turpen during the meeting.
The seal itself includes explicit text elements, displaying the phrases “City of Bedford”, “Indiana”, “EST. 1825”, and the regional moniker “Limestone Capital of the World”.
In a promotional broadcast on the municipal YouTube channel, titled “From the Mayor’s Desk“, Mayor Sam Craig stated that the banner “represents our community, our heritage, and our shared pride in the place we call home”.
According to the timeline provided by Craig, municipal staff are scheduled to begin installing the flags at various civic properties and municipal facilities throughout the jurisdiction over the coming weeks.
Local authorities anticipate that the infrastructure rollout will be completed and the flags will be fully displayed by the end of July.
