JULY 26, 2026 — Uruguay‘s Supreme Court of Justice has initiated a public contest to design the official institutional flag for the country’s judiciary branch, reports Diario La R and Telenoche.
The initiative aims to establish a permanent visual symbol reflecting the institution’s historical lineage, republican tradition, and core tenets of independence and impartiality within the rule of law.
Submissions must incorporate both the graphic layout of the flag and a descriptive summary detailing the underlying conceptual values and symbolism.
The judicial body stated that “the flag must constitute a sober, clear, representative, and lasting symbol, capable of expressing the essential function of the Judiciary in a Constitutional State.”
The competition is open to individual citizens as well as collaborative teams, with a submission deadline set for October 3.
